Arin Hankerd a teacher, who was also the football coach at Atlantic High School, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old student, Port Orange police said. Arin Hankerd, an Atlantic High School gym teacher and football coach, was arrested after someone reported Feb. 10 that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the school. Hankerd was booked into the Volusia County Jail on various charges and is being held on $115,000 bond.

Arin Hankerd, 42, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of lewd and lewd abuse of a person over the age of 12 but under 16, traveling to meet a minor, and using a computer for lewd and lewd display by from a person 18 years of age or older to a victim under 16 years of age. Arin Hankerd accused of sex with a 15-year-old student

Teacher sends sexual messages to student Teacher at DeLand school arrested after sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old girl Port Orange police said patrol officers responded to a home Friday night after receiving a report of an inappropriate sexual relationship between Hankerd and a 15-year-old student at Atlantic High School.

Investigators learned that Hankerd had a sexual relationship with the student around the first week of January. Detectives worked on the case throughout the weekend and arrested Hankerd on Sunday at 7:16 p.m. after executing a search warrant at his home, police said. Hankerd, a high school gym teacher and football coach, has worked at the school for about two years, police said.

Before working at Atlantic High School, Hankerd worked as a teacher at Mainland High School and was the football coach at Father Lopez High School, Port Orange police said.
