NEVADA: After a 2-month manhunt, Las Vegas authorities arrested Chanler McCloud for carjacking and murder on New Year’s Day. The alleged perpetrator reportedly dumped his urine and feces and burned the vehicle, inside the vehicle to mask his DNA, according to a police report.
Police were able to find the stolen vehicle in a city on the day of the carjacking, via a traffic camera that saw McCloud in the car, but when police arrived on the scene, he was gone. Then, on January 10, police found the burned-out stolen vehicle on Valley View Boulevard and collected evidence from it. Nearly two months later, police were able to apprehend the suspect after he was pulled over for a bicycle violation on March 9. Police said McCloud confessed to killing Kridler after being read the Miranda rights to him.

Chanler McCloud accused of carjacking and murder
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 call on January 1, from Play It Again Sam’s Gentlemen’s Club after Roy Kridler, 62, said his car had been stolen. Upon arrival, the victim told police, a man pulled him out of his vehicle and slammed his head into the pavement.
The suspect identified as 25-year-old Chanler McCloud then threatened the victim by pulling out a knife on her before walking away. However, as the police questioned Kridler, he complained that he had a headache and sat up, after which he suddenly lost consciousness and was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. Kridler’s cause of death was listed as acute coronary artery thrombosis.
McCloud was charged with murder, robbery, destruction of evidence and grand theft. The suspect said he made money gambling and agreed to let Kridler take him to a spa in Chinatown, according to the report. During his trip, Kridler stopped at Play It Again Sam’s instead of Hustler’s Club, where McCloud wanted to be dropped off. This made the 25-year-old very angry, leading him to get into an altercation with the 62-year-old. “McCloud admitted that he used his left hand to push Kridler hard enough to get him away from the vehicle, that Kridler fell as a result and McCloud drove away,” police said, according to Fox News.

When asked by police why he set the vehicle on fire, the suspect responded by saying that he couldn’t find bleach to destroy his DNA. McCloud said he used a candle to set the vehicle on fire and burned the seat before pouring urine and feces to cover his DNA. Previous records showed that prior to the Jan. 1 incident, he was arrested on Dec. 23 for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and released after the charge was dismissed.
