Police arrested five people, including two 18-year-old men and three 17-year-old boys, following a shooting at the Mall of America on Friday night, December 23. Now the latest report suggests that the culprits, who allegedly killed a 19-year-old African-American man, stopped for lunch at White Castle.

Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said a day after the shooting: “The people we arrested here after the shooting seem to have felt they needed to get something to eat.

So they went to White Castle… and bought a package. cravings”, as per New York Post. Recounting the attack, he said: “Yesterday was the first firearms-related homicide in the history of the Mall of America.” It is the second murder in the mall’s history, the first being a home-related stabbing in 1999.

Hodges said police from various area departments, including SWAT officers, executed a search warrant at a St Louis Park address and arrested all five people.

The 18-year-olds have been identified as Taeshawn Wright and Deandre Depratto. However, the identities of the 17-year-olds are not revealed by the authorities as they are considered underage suspects. He added by saying that one of the 18-year-olds is believed to be the shooter, although another suspect may also have fired a weapon.

He said: “I’m pretty sure we have the person responsible for murdering the victim in custody.” Meanwhile, a sixth suspect is still being sought, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Explaining the possible reason behind the attack, the chief said: “We think this is some kind of longstanding feud, something that has been going on. But no one is cooperating with us at the moment,” reports KSTP.
