MISSISSIPPI: Michael Owens  the husband of Ebony Owens, a missing Mississippi woman, has been charged with her murder after police found evidence suggesting the victim was shot and killed.

Ebony Owens, 36, was reported missing on March 15 by members of her family after she failed to show up for work, according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones. The sheriff also announced at a news conference that they were looking for her husband, Michael, for questioning in connection with her disappearance.

Hours later, Michael was recovered from an apartment at Ridgeland Ranch Apartments and interviewed, then charged by authorities with Ebony’s murder and arson, according to a WAPT report. Authorities believe the mother of four was shot and killed. Police, along with local volunteers, are currently conducting a search for her body in the Big Black River on Old Highway 80 between the Hinds and Warren county lines, the sheriff wrote in a Facebook post.

Electronic evidence suggested Ebony was last located in the Clinton area on the night of March 14, which is about 18 miles east of her Edwards home, where officers responded to a welfare check Wednesday. .
