FLORIDA: Three teens were shockingly discovered shot to death last week at various locations in the rural village of Ocklawaha in Marion County. Two suspects were detained as a result of the horrific incident: 17-year-old Robert Robinson and 12-year-old Christopher Atkins.

According to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods, the suspects will face first-degree murder charges. The sheriff’s office is offering up to $10,000 as a reward for information leading to the capture of a third suspect, 16-year-old Tahj Brewton, Wesh reported.

Sheriff Woods claimed at a press conference that the murders were the result of a tragic betrayal by a group of young people. “They thoughtlessly took their own life, they deserve the full weight of the law,” Woods said. Investigators were able to determine that this group of minors was involved in burglaries and robberies. The sheriff described the killings as consequences within the group. “There is no honor among thieves,” Woods said according to the news outlet.

Why Robert Robinson and Christopher Atkins are arrested?

The shocking incident took place last Thursday night when 16-year-old Layla Silvernail was found dead on a road near a dumpster not far from Ocklawaha. Shortly after, a 17-year-old boy was found half a mile away. Finally, another 16-year-old Camille Quarles was found shot to death in Layla’s car, which was partially submerged in a pond. Although there were three victims at three different locations, Sheriff Woods confirmed that there was only one shooting scene. “I already told you about the witness who heard the shots, that’s when all three were killed,” Woods said. The arrest affidavit said a witness “heard four or five loud bangs,” the report said.

Woods further confirmed that investigators have confessions to at least one of the three shootings. While some details are still withheld as the sheriff’s office builds its case, the gun used in the murders was taken during a carjacking, according to the sheriff. The arrest affidavit also revealed that on at least one phone, investigators found images of children “…wielding a gun pointed at the camera…”

Woods alleged that the group of six teenagers, including 16-year-old Layla Silvernail, were together in their car when the murders occurred. He emphasized that “she was there of her own free will.” While the incident was reported to be gang-related, Sheriff Woods stated that there is nothing specific to indicate that it was a rivalry. Yet each victim was somehow associated with a gang, according to Woods.
