DETROIT, MICHIGAN – A tragic romantic rivalry between two baby moms has resulted in a near-death experience. Shantonya Williamson a Detroit woman was allegedly arrested and faces attempted murder charges after she shot another pregnant woman. The tragic incident unfolded near Central and Sylvan on the Center Line on Sunday, February 12.

Shantonya Williamson, 26, was traveling when she met the father of her baby in a Dodge Charger with another woman near Central and Sylvan on the Center Line. Things soon took a turn for the worse, however, after she noticed the other woman was also pregnant by her baby’s father, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Fox reported. Williamson was accompanied by her 2-year-old son with the same man. when he witnessed the ordeal.

Center Line police claimed the man allegedly got out of the car and began fighting with Shantonya. The fight quickly escalated into a violent physical altercation, which is when Shantonya reportedly drew the gun and shot the pregnant woman who was sitting in the Dodge Charger. The pregnant woman was injured in the leg.

“This shooting doesn’t make sense, it’s violent,” Macomb County District Attorney Pete Lucido said. Authorities said an enraged Shantonya Williamson shot the other woman after learning she was both pregnant by the same man.

Sources reported that the injured woman is safe and she is expected to recover after she herself drove to the hospital. Additionally, Detroit police driving past a home in the 18000 block of Greenly allegedly saw Shantonya slap the father of her baby girl.
