TEXAS: A family was left torn apart after her mother’s ex-boyfriend fatally shot an 11-year-old boy in north Dallas on Saturday, March 11. Jeremiah Green and his mother, Jocelyn, 31, were sleeping at his grandparents’ residence. in the 6400 block of Royal Lane, when 30-year-old Jakeith Huntley allegedly fired 10 rounds around 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 11.

Green was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, while Jocelyn was rushed to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds to her arm. Several family members, including the boy’s grandparents and cousins, were reportedly home at the time of the shooting but were uninjured. Huntley, who dated Jocelyn for six years, was soon arrested on a capital murder charge in the girl’s death. He also faces a charge of aggravated assault, court records show, according to PEOPLE.

Jeremiah Green shot by mom’s angry ex-boyfriend

Huntley’s motive remains unclear, but according to the arrest affidavit, she went to the house after Green and refused to return after she refused to meet him. The grieving mother told police that he kept pounding on the door and demanded that he come out. The affidavit said that she often slept in the same room as Green, who was sleeping at the time of the incident. “Huntley was angry with her and when he refused to get out of her, suspect Huntley began firing multiple 9mm shots through the same window they were talking at,” investigators wrote in the affidavit, according to Dallas. Green’s untimely death has left his family heartbroken. Mourning her death, her uncle, Cameron Hardeman, who was present at the time of the shooting, told KXAS: “I’m still in shock. It feels like a dream. It’s like a nightmare waiting to wake up. I was in the honor roll. student, very smart and very good at soccer. He liked karate, he said he wanted to play soccer when he grew up,” adding: “He had dreams, he couldn’t wait to grow up. I’m pretty sure he would have too followed every one of them. It’s a tragedy that they took it from us, too soon.”

Green’s crestfallen grandfather said: “Jeremiah will live on through us, his family and friends. He was a great guy”. He said Jocelyn “was in pain.” “This is his only child, you know.
