FLORIDA: A Florida man has been arrested and charged with murder after the suspect fatally shot his girlfriend in the back and claimed the act was self-defense. On Sunday morning, April 16, 48-year-old Richard Raciak was arrested and is currently facing a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm in connection with the murder of Allison Sheehan.
The 46-year-old is also the mother of Raciak’s son. According to a news release on Raciak’s arrest issued Monday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the 48-year-old man “claimed it was self-defense when he shot Allison when her back was turned to him,” it reported. Law&Crime.
On Sunday, Orange County deputies responded to Raciak’s home located in the 2800 block of Smithfield Drive and upon arrival found Sheehan’s body in the master bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. The woman was rushed to Osceola Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The alleged killer, who was on the scene, was taken to the Hunter’s Creek emergency room, where he was treated after he told first responders that he was severely dehydrated.

Following the incident, police contacted Raciak’s father. He had been at the house the day of the murder to celebrate the birthday of the couple’s son. At approximately 3:30 p.m., he left the scene. However, the suspect’s father told investigators that he began receiving text messages around 10:30 p.m. m. from his son talking about a violent encounter between him and Sheehan. “Allison was attacking me. I had to shoot. I had to take her down in self defense. The only option she had. Wait for the police,” Raciak wrote in the text messages.
Raciak urged his brother and his father to get cash from his safe. He also sent both of them a photo of the victim’s dead body. After his release from the facility, the suspect explained to investigators that he and his girlfriend had been together for nearly eight years. According to his statement, Sheehan allegedly drank excessive amounts of alcohol at her son’s birthday party. Later that day, the woman attacked Raciak after an argument. Raciak claimed that Sheehan tried to “take” his eyes off of her and was shoved into a dresser.

The man then took a .40 caliber pistol placed inside a biometric safe on the nightstand. He allegedly told detectives that he was aiming to shoot her in the leg and that he wanted to “put her down.” He later claimed that he accidentally shot him in the back four times after he “aimed high” by mistake.
