The incident reportedly occurred near 65th Street and Lancaster around 4:40 p.m.

The 44-year-old victim was the father of four children and a husband. According to reports, he had been working as a postal worker for 18 years. “Aundre was a brother, a mentor. He was just a beacon of light for all of us,” said Tia R, a former colleague. She also pleaded that “if he knows his mailman is outside, his delivery man is outside, just make sure they get to his truck and go home safely. Melissa Carter, a friend and colleague of Cross’s, reportedly said: “Aundre came to work every day with a smile on her face. If you were sad, he would make sure to make you smile. He will make you laugh every day.

Jyfena Brown, the victim’s co-worker, also spoke about him as reported by WISN-TV: “If you had a bad morning, he could come in loud, cheerful, change your whole mood. Forget what bothered you. He was a good person. He had three beautiful children, a wife. Imagine how they feel, two weeks before Christmas,” before adding: “Being a carrier in Milwaukee is so scary right now. And you’re alone on the road. It’s literally you and the mail. It’s sad to see someone good like him. It just hurts because he didn’t deserve this at all.”

Sherry Adams, who lived on the route that Cross regularly used to deliver the mail, said: “He touched so many lives, so many, and we as a community are in very, very bad shape. It will take us a while to get over this.”
