Police are questioning a 15-year-old boy over the alleged murder in central Bath of an 18-year-old man identified by police as Ben Moncrieff. Officers were called to the Southgate Street area of Bath, in Somerset, at around 3:30am on Saturday and the victim was found seriously injured and died at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police said three people were arrested on the same day, two were released without charge and the teenage suspect remained in custody after police had more time to question him. “An extension has been granted this afternoon to allow us to continue questioning the person we have in custody,” said Chief Inspector Ronnie Lungu of the Bath Neighborhood Team.

Formal identification has not yet been made, but police believe the victim is Mr. Moncrieff and specialized officers are supporting his family, the Press Association reported. Chief Inspector Lungu said: “Our thoughts remain with Ben’s family at this difficult time. Specially trained officers from the Bath Neighborhood Team provide them with support and continue to update them as the investigation progresses.”

“We ask that the privacy of his family be respected as they try to come to terms with the events of the past few days.” Chief Inspector Lungu said the Major Crimes Investigation Team was continuing its investigations and reviewing security camera footage and taking witness statements.

“We are grateful for the public’s patience and understanding while the on-site investigations were conducted and concluded yesterday,” he said. “Additional security patrols are underway and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with officers who will be happy to stop and assist.”Read More……
