SUV driver ‘intentionally plows into crowd outside a Texas migrant

At least seven people have been killed and several injured after a car struck a group of people outside a migrant shelter in Brownsville, Texas. The Range Rover SUV is believed to have ‘intentionally’ slammed into pedestrians waiting at a bus stop outside the Ozanam Center at 8:20am. m. of Saturday. The police arrested the driver after the horrifying scenes this morning. He has been charged with reckless driving, but authorities say more charges may follow once the pending investigation is complete.

Aftermath footage showed several injured people lying on the ground in bloody clothing as emergency services rushed to the scene. The suspect is currently in hospital being treated for injuries, but is under police surveillance. Investigators are also looking into whether he was under the influence at the time of the fatal crash.

Authorities say around six people have been taken to hospital with injuries. The Ozanam Center is a homeless shelter that serves individuals and families in the area, and because it sits right on the US-Mexico border, many of its clients are immigrants. The group is understood to have been congregating at a bus stop near the shelter early in the morning when the van struck them.
