Chicago Shooting incident detail

Police said the victim, whose name and age were not available, was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities said they were actively investigating the fatal shootings, along with a host of other incidents that plagued the Windy City over the weekend. A girl, an old man and at least three teenagers were injured in the shots.

Just hours after the first homicide, police said a 16-year-old boy was in West Englewood around 1:30 a.m. when he was shot in the arm after hearing gunshots. The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was said to be in good condition. It is unclear if the boy was shot by the same people who killed the third murder victim in the same neighborhood later that day.

At about the same time the boy was shot in West Englewood, gunfire erupted in River North, where a 26-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was listed in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. At 2:45 a.m. m., two teenagers ages 15 and 16 were shot from a moving vehicle in Englewood, near the 400 block of West 75th Street.

Police said the boys were walking on the sidewalk when a gray truck approached them and began shooting, hitting the 15-year-old boy in the right leg and the older boy in the right arm. The children were rushed to area hospitals, where they were listed in good condition. The shooting continued until Saturday morning when an 85-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in Chatham.

Then, just after 6:30 p.m., police said a male victim and a 5-year-old girl were shot in the Lawndale neighborhood, with a bullet grazing the girl on her foot. Both victims were listed in good condition. In all, three people have been killed and 27 others injured as Chicago continues to grapple with a surge in violent crime. Over the holiday weekend last year, the city saw 30 shooting victims, including eight who were fatally wounded.Read More…….
