Diana Ornelas accused of killing 24-year-old man

She was a teacher at the Stanford Community Children’s Center, which provides child care for children of Stanford University students, staff, and faculty ranging in age from 8 weeks to 5 years. Santa Cruz sheriff’s deputies said both Ornelas and Novoa knew Waterfall and that the motive for his murder was “personal,” but they did not clarify his alleged roles. Waterfall posted a photo on Facebook in February of a flowering cannabis plant and mentioned Novoa.

“Thanks to friend Dennis Novoa for teaching me how to grow,” Waterfall wrote. Other photos on the page of him are of psychedelic paraphernalia, bundles of cash, and in one, a gun is seen. Sheriff’s deputies say Waterfall had been dead for nearly a month before his body was found “on the side of a hill off the 9 Freeway.”

“The arrest occurred at nap time and outside the perimeter of the CCSC campus,” the school wrote in a message informing parents of the arrest, which was obtained by The Stanford Daily. The children were not present when this occurred and it did not disrupt operations,” he added. We are all shocked and distraught by this news because CCSC is a place and a community that means a lot to all of us.’
