Diante Stokes Wiki – Diante Stokes Biography

A teenager in Florida is in critical condition and another is behind bars for the shooting, along with the 35-year-old woman with whom the two allegedly shared a relationship and rivalry, authorities say. According to the Rockledge Police Department, 19-year-old Diante Stokes shot the 15-year-old, who is not being identified due to his age and status as an alleged victim. An arrest affidavit says the incident occurred Saturday night near the pool at the Hammock Harbor Apartment complex.

Stokes is currently charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two probation violations, according to Brevard County jail records. He is currently being held there without bail. “Something bad is going to happen and I’m going to go to jail for a long time,” the 19-year-old allegedly told his older lover in a Snapchat message the day before the shooting, the affidavit says.

According to Stokes’ arrest warrant, two witnesses described hearing around eight separate shots. A witness said the alleged shooter had been “fighting” the victim and threatening him through social media and text messages. According to police, Stokes shot the boy at least twice and drove off. He was wanted for several days but was arrested on Tuesday.

Diante Stokes and Chanel Williams are arrested

On Sunday, Chanel Williams, 35, was arrested in connection with the shooting, jail records show. She is currently charged with one count of child neglect with great bodily harm, providing a weapon to a minor, causing a child to commit a delinquent act, and unsafe storage of a firearm. Her combined bail for each offense was set at $45,000 after she appeared in court Monday.

Police say the older woman gave the 15-year-old a gun to protect herself from the older teen. According to Florida Today, the 15-year-old suffered injuries to his chest and leg, citing an RPD spokesperson. The resulting investigation allegedly turned up a 9mm pistol inside a bag belonging to the victim. That weapon, police claim, was traced back to Williams.

“The female we arrested was in a romantic relationship with both the suspect and the 15-year-old,” RPD Deputy Chief Donna Seyferth said in comments reported by Daytona Beach-based NBC affiliate WESH. During her court appearance, Williams was ordered to have no contact with a child under the age of 18, the television station reported. “It’s a very confusing case,” Seyferth continued. “We have a guardian who is not a guardian. We have a 35-year-old female who has been with our suspect and our victim, one of whom is a minor. A lot of investigative work has been necessary to get to where we are.”

According to Orlando CBS affiliate WKMG, Williams’ attorney told Judge Katie Jacobus that her client is a nursing assistant and suggested that the no-contact order would likely cause problems. “She has five minor children for whom she is the sole caretaker and sole breadwinner for the family,” defense attorney Jason Downs said.

The defense lawyer also questioned the veracity of some of the claims made by the police, but declined to go into details. “Our preliminary investigation shows that police reports may be somewhat inaccurate,” Downs said after her client’s arraignment. “Perhaps the facts do not support the charges. So we are looking forward to trying this case in court.”
