A Kansas woman shares a heartbreaking tribute to her 21-year-old son who lost his life when a freak storm hit several US states. Despite “broken fingers and damaged lungs,” her youngest son, 16 years, managed to flee the storm.

A few days before Christmas, Ericka Lysell took to Facebook and shared a post, stating that she would never have imagined having to make a post like that. She revealed that her eldest son, Grant Lysell-Alkire, 21, was killed in a car accident south of Salina on Thursday, December 22.

“I never dreamed I would have to make a post like this,” Ericka wrote in the Facebook post, adding: “Our sweet Grant Lysell-Alkire died in a car accident last night, the roads were extremely icy.”

Grant Lysell was killed in the car accident, while his 16-year-old brother Sawyer Lysell-Alkire, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the tragic incident, was also injured in the collision due to icy roads as a monster storm hits several states. in the United States, according to Daily Mail.

“Sawyer so far ok some broken fingers and badly bruised lungs are monitoring,” Ericka wrote, adding: “We are sick and heart aching so bad none of our lives will ever be the same again. Pray for our family and especially for Aserrador.”

Late on Thursday, Ericka updated her followers on the status of her 16-year-old son in another post. “Sawyer’s latest chest X-ray looked good, and she was doing well on room oxygen and PT and OT. We headed home. We felt the love from everyone,” she said.

In the grieving mom’s post, tributes poured in from family and friends, many of whom wished Sawyer a speedy recovery. One person said, “Thank God for that! Please give Sawdog our love and a big hug. I wish I could be there for you, but please know I’m praying so hard for all of you. I love you so much.”

The fatal crash occurred on Interstate 135 near Old Highway 81 in southern Saline County around 9:15 p.m. m. A Mazda SUV flipped and landed on the roof of a ditch as it headed south, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Sadly, Grant died at the scene, while his 16-year-old sister, who was driving the vehicle, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
