Police now want to speak with this customer, described by police as white or Hispanic, who stood up and shot the robber as he was leaving the restaurant in Houston. “He had a reasonable fear of serious bodily injury or death.” Nathan Beedle of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office believes the shooting was justified, adding: “I can point you exactly where the law is, 9.31 and 9.32 of the penal code.”

“If someone uses deadly force in the situation, that’s supposed to be okay under Texas law.” Texas has some of the most lenient gun laws in the US Residents and non-residents age 21 and older can carry a firearm, openly or concealed, in most places in the state.
