Maryland State Police say they are searching for suspects in a Sunday morning shooting in Salisbury that left a teenager dead and a man in the hospital with gunshot wounds. Police identified the teen as Ja’siah Sin’cer Johnson, 16, of Salisbury. Johnson was taken from the scene to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ja’siah Johnson cause of death

Salisbury Police Department officers responded shortly after midnight on April 16 to 911 calls reporting gunshots in the 300 block of East Carroll Street in Salisbury, near Buena Vista Avenue.

Officers found the two victims with multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a statement. The injured victim was identified as Jamere Capri Maynes, 22, of Salisbury. She is receiving treatment for her injuries at Salisbury hospital.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was requested to respond and take the lead in this investigation. Investigators from the State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, as well as detectives and officers from the Salisbury Police Department, are providing additional assistance.
