Jaxon grabbed the gun from under a sofa and shot herself, police said. “What happened to my son was a very horrible accident and if anyone is listening, any parents, if you have weapons, guns, please secure them safely,” said Paula Layton, Jaxon’s mother. Layton said her family is trying to come to terms with the tragedy.

“No one expects to bury their baby,” Layton said. “He was such an outgoing precious little baby. He never met a stranger. Anyone who knows Jaxon knows that she was just amazing.” Layton pleaded with Judge Alyssa Levine on Thursday to allow Truitt to attend his son’s funeral. Levine said he will be able to attend if he posts $10,000 bail.

Truitt’s case will head to a grand jury on Monday. Until then, Layton said her goal is to say a final goodbye to her baby. “He will always live in our hearts,” she said. Jaxon’s funeral is on Saturday. If Truitt attends, he will have to wear an ankle monitor.Read More……
