MICHIGAN: A Michigan man Joshua Fordham with a concealed pistol license (CPL) shot an armed robber who tried to rob him at gunpoint and threatened to kill his friend outside a deli, according to police.

The incident occurred outside of Carmen’s Delicatessen on Gratiot Avenue, Detriot, at approximately 9:53 p.m. m. on February 8, according to investigators. Police responded to a gunshot call and found a victim with his hands raised above his head who told them he had a concealed handgun license, according to a Fox 2 Detroit report.

The CPL head said he and his friend were being robbed outside the deli and that he shot his attacker once in self-defense, according to court documents. The victim told police that a man wearing a ski mask and Detroit Lions jacket had followed them. him and his friend in a liquor store. He too followed them out of the store and headed for his car.

Security footage showed the suspect pulling out a black handgun and pointing it at the CPL holder’s friend, according to a WDIV report. The suspect allegedly ordered the CPL holder to hand over all of his belongings and threatened to kill his friend if he did not comply, according to police. The victim handed him her wallet, at which point the suspect began frisking him with one hand while he held his gun with the other.

The video showed him pointing the gun at the CPL holder’s head. That’s when the CPL holder suddenly drew his own gun and fired at the suspect, striking him in the chest, according to investigators. Detroit police found the injured suspect lying on the ground outside the store. The criminal complaint related to this case was published by the police on March 10.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Fordham. The 28-year-old is a convicted felon on prior charges of armed robbery and weapons. He reportedly pleaded guilty to armed robbery in March 2014 and was sentenced to between 5 and 15 years in prison, according to a Click 2 Detroit report. Therefore, Fordham is not legally allowed to own a gun and faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, but it is unclear if there are other pending charges against him.Read More…..
