Authorities say Garcia applied for a hitman position and submitted his resume, in which he allegedly described himself as a “sharp marksman” in the military whose nickname was “Reaper,” the affidavit read. release. He allegedly asked if a photo of the corpse was required to secure the remainder of the fee before being arrested.

Authorities say an AR-15 rifle was found at his home. If convicted, Garcia faces up to 10 years in prison.

In 2022, Bob Innes, the founder of RentAHitman.com, said that he started the website in 2005 with friends from an IT program in Santa Rosa, California. The group wanted to start a computer security company, but never did, and soon after went their separate ways. Innes almost forgot about the website until 2008, when he went online just for the fun of it and found around 300 emails in his inbox.

It occurred to him that he had accidentally started a fake hit-for-hire site, one that would end up catching real-life criminals.

Seeing that some people thought this was a real hit-and-run website, Innes decided to have a little fun with it, tweaking the original content and turning it into a parody site.
