A man who tried to rape a woman who lived in the same apartment block by climbing up a nearby penthouse has been jailed for more than a decade. Karan Pullock, 37, from Hackney, London, was jailed for 12 years at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday May 19.

Pullock pleaded guilty in January to attempted robbery, attempted rape, sexual assault and threatening to kill. On June 30, 2022, Pullock entered the victim’s home through an attic and when the victim returned home, he noticed that the blinds were drawn and his dog was unusually quiet.

Karan Pullock accused of raping a woman

Pullock came out of a dark room with a knife and grabbed the victim as she tried to fight him off. He overpowered her and held a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her if she continued to scream.

He then took the victim to her bedroom, tied her to a chair and demanded money. He began cutting the victim’s clothing before sexually assaulting her and attempting to rape her. Soon after, Pullock called the police and confessed to the incident. Officers immediately rushed to the scene and arrested him.

In a statement, the victim said that “there are days when I struggle to get out of bed” after the harrowing incident. He adding: ‘There are days when I struggle to get out of bed. Not recognizing the person I once was. I wonder what the point is, where I no longer have the confidence to live like I used to. Living in a city like London and being constantly afraid feels hopeless.

‘I am a grown woman, who is now afraid of the dark. I am embarrassed trying to make plans to see friends or client meetings and having to figure this out. In the winter months it makes this basically impossible. Detective Sergeant Matthew Cooksey said: “Pullock is a truly dangerous individual who planned a terrifying attack on the victim for no other reason than his own gratification.”
