A dead Michigan woman was found bound and wrapped in a tarp Friday inside an abandoned juvenile detention center. Michigan State Police identified the woman as Kayla Sedoskey. The body was discovered after someone explored the interior of the building, FOX Detroit reported.

Authorities were called to the abandoned Boysville Juvenile Detention Center in French Township. Soldiers entered the building and found Sedoskey, a resident of Monroe, 40 miles south of Detroit. Past the broken windows and dilapidated walls of this derelict building that was once a religious facility for troubled youth.

How did Kayla Sedoskey died?

Kayla Sedoskey’s body was discovered by someone exploring the mysterious grounds. “Honestly, I couldn’t believe it, how does she call herself horrified,” said longtime family friend Jessica Evans. Family Friend: Jerrica Evans is devastated. “She would practically consider her family, she was like a daughter to me,” she said.

Friends tell us that the last time Kayla was heard from was in mid-February. But the Michigan State Police, which is leading the investigation, does not confirm that, or much more. Sources tell FOX 2: She was found tied up, with duct tape over her mouth on the inside floor. “I just hope that whoever did this is brought to justice, he didn’t deserve this to happen to him,” Evans said.

Investigators say her cause of death is under investigation and, according to the Monroe Country Medical Examiner’s Office, she is pending an autopsy. Kayla – a mother, she was last known to live in the town of Monroe, just a few miles from where she was found dead. “The beautiful son she brought into this world, I’ll tell you,” Evans said

On Friday afternoon, Michigan State Police were out on the sprawling 60-acre lot, abandoned since 2008. They’re looking for clues to piece it all together. “Pray for all the friends and family who are going through this,” Evans said.
