A Kentucky teacher was arrested Tuesday on 17 counts of sex crimes and additional charges of evidence tampering, police said. Kevin Lentz, 49, was charged with ten counts of distributing obscene material to a minor and seven counts of using a child under 16 in a sexual performance.

He was also charged with six counts of tampering with physical evidence. Lentz worked as an English teacher at Henry Clay High School in Lexington. He was placed on leave after his arrest on Tuesday. A police subpoena obtained by the Lexington Herald-Leader alleges that Lentz pressured a 9-year-old boy into sending him photos of his genitalia in July. Lentz also allegedly sent the boy adult pornography.

The subpoena said Lentz pressured the boy to delete the photos “so his parents wouldn’t find out,” the Herald-Leader reported. Lentz was transported to the Fayette County Detention Center after his arrest.

He is being held on a $50,000 bond. “Special Victims Section detectives continue to investigate and no additional information is available at this time,” the Lexington Police Department told Fox News Digital.
