Trenton police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old Trenton man. Mercer County officials said the stabbing occurred in Trenton Thursday night around 8:30 a.m. at CURE Arena. A high school basketball tournament was taking place inside the arena when someone stabbed the man, identified as Khalil Glanton , 22, of Trenton, multiple times inside the arena. He was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he died shortly thereafter.

James Earle, superintendent of Trenton Public Schools, said Glanton graduated from Trenton Central High School in 2019. According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Khalil Glanton, 22, of Trenton, was stabbed multiple times inside the arena. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Who killed Khalil Glanton?

Trenton Public School District Superintendent James Earle said in a statement that Glanton is a 2019 graduate of Trenton Central High School. “At this time, we are not aware of any current students who may have been directly involved, but who have contacted those who may be connected to ensure they are not on campus today (February 17),” the statement reads. from Earle.

The superintendent went on to say that administrators have activated the district’s crisis team for students and staff who may need support. “Additional police will be present inside TCHS and will be patrolling the school campus as a precaution,” Earle said. According to Earle, the incident was recorded and posted on social media. and crisis teams have been activated in local schools to help struggling students and staff.

“The past two weeks have been traumatic for our TPS family. Students and staff have experienced tragic events within schools, within our community, and watched them unfold across the country,” Earle said. “As a district, our work continues to be critical to changing the circumstances of our youth.
