Speaking with the victim’s family, Hawaii News Now reports that 25-year-old Laulusa died of a fatal stab wound to the neck. Her body was found Monday morning in a burning car parked in front of Mililani High School in Honolulu, police say.

According to the outlet, witnesses told police they saw a man, later reportedly identified as 25-year-old Jones, near the vehicle “opening and closing doors during the fire” who “later fled on foot.” Police say witnesses followed the suspect, who they say was armed with a “blade” or weapon, until they arrived.

Laau Jordan Laulusa killed by boy friend

On Wednesday, the Hawaii Department of Defense confirmed Laulusa’s death, identifying her as a specialist with the 227th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, after joining the Hawaii National Guard in 2019, se read in a press release. “It’s too bad because she’s still young, a beautiful girl, very kind, and she didn’t deserve this,” Laulusa’s uncle Sasoa Feagai told KHON-TV.

Jones’ bail was set at $1 million, the outlet reports. It was not clear if he retained an attorney or pleaded guilty to the charges.
