Antonova, who was born and raised in Russia, is an accomplished card player. She attended a university in her homeland from 2000 to 2005, according to her now-deleted LinkedIn profile. After moving to the US, Antonova started working as a software engineer in San Francisco.

She also founded a bridge club sometime after coming to the United States. Very little is known about her family or her upbringing in Russia.

How did she meet Bill Gates?

The billionaire Microsoft co-founder first crossed paths with the Russian card genius in late 2009 at a bridge tournament in Washington, DC. In a video posted online in 2010, Antonova discussed meeting Gates at the North American Bridge Championships a year earlier.

“I didn’t hit him, but I tried to kick him with my leg,” she said in the video.

Antonova met Epstein when he was seeking funds to launch an online business dedicated to teaching people to play bridge. One of Gates’s top advisers, Boris Nikolic, made the presentation, according to the Journal. The documents show Antonova met Epstein at her Manhattan home in November 2013, when she told him she was trying to raise $500,000 for her company BridgePlanet.

A year later, the Russian card player stayed in a New York City apartment provided by the late pedophile financier, but she maintains that she “did not interact with him or anyone else while she was there.”

When her plans for an online business fell through, Antonova turned to software programming and began asking people to lend her money to start a programming boot camp.

“Epstein agreed to pay and he paid the school directly,” Antonova told the Journal. “Nothing was exchanged. I don’t know why he did that. When I asked him, he said something like he was rich and wanted to help people when he could.”

“I had no idea that he was a criminal or he had some ulterior motive,” she said. “I thought he was a successful businessman and he wanted to help.” After investing in Antonova’s programming boot camp, Epstein emailed Gates in 2017 asking the Microsoft founder to refund the undisclosed amount.

Epstein sent the email after Gates refused to join the multi-million dollar convicted sex offender charity he was trying to start with JPMorgan Chase, sources told the newspaper.

“Mr. Gates met with Epstein solely for philanthropic purposes. Having repeatedly failed to move Mr. Gates further on these matters, Epstein unsuccessfully attempted to leverage a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates,” a representative for Gates said. The representative said Gates never paid for the veiled threat and that he had “no financial dealings” with Epstein.
