MICHIGAN: Investigators have arrested a 53-year-old man Robert Odell Waters who was responsible for killing a young mother three decades ago while her baby was in the next room. On December 2, 1988, 19-year-old Cathy Swartz was stabbed and brutally attacked and also fought back as Robert Odell Waters strangled her.

Waters is currently in custody and has been charged with Swartz’s murder, according to the Michigan Three Rivers Police Department. The suspect’s identity was determined after using blood found at the crime scene and using genetic genealogy, Law and Crime reported.

Robert Odell Waters arrested in a cold case murder
