On Monday, Rosales’ sister and father told CBS affiliate WHIO that the boy left them to go with another family and had warned them not to go near the water. They said that they are not sure what happened after he joined the other members.

Speaking to the outlet, the missing boy’s sister, Da’Najiah Wakefield, stated: “My sister said she heard something fall and someone crying, and she said she saw splashing in the water and after that, we just don’t know.”

Five Rivers MetroParks announced Sunday, April 30, that it is currently not open to the public while the investigation into the missing seven-year-old boy continues. In an update on Monday, May 1, police stated that Dayton police and fire crews are again working to continue the search for Rosales and that investigators have expanded their search area. “We have used aviation, drones and K-9. We have also drained a pond during this search,” the department wrote.

“The multi-agency search was conducted by more than 100 individuals from organizations and departments, including the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Five Rivers MetroParks, Dayton Police and Fire, and volunteer search parties,” the Department of Dayton Police.

“I just hope they find it,” said a volunteer named Brandye Russell who was part of the search efforts, WHIO reported.
