It was believed that she may have come from as far south as Broward County, according to the researchers. The baby’s body was found floating in the sea by an off-duty firefighter.

The girl was between four and seven days old and her body was floating in the ocean for six to 18 hours before it was discovered. It is not yet clear how the baby ended up in the water.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was scheduled to hold a news conference at 12:30 p.m. m. Thursday for more information, though additional details about her mother’s arrest have not yet been released.

The sheriff’s office had offered a $10,000 reward for information on the case.

A medical examiner found the baby was no more than 14 days old and ruled the case murder. She had her umbilical cord cut and she had a needle stick in her heel. Detectives concluded that she was born in a hospital, according to NBC.
