A suspect covered in blood has been arrested on the side of the road in Melbourne after another man was stabbed to death at a nearby resort and spa. Moments earlier, witnesses say the arrested man had crashed a car in traffic and tried to flee on foot down Point Cook Road in Point Cook, in the city’s southwest. Police allege a 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed at the Seasons 5 Resort. Paramedics were called shortly after 3 p.m. m., but they could not save him. Police said a 28-year-old Diggers Rest man was assisting police after being arrested.

“There was allegedly an altercation between two men outside a lodge on Point Cook Road,” Victoria Police said. “Unfortunately, one of the men died at the scene.” Witnesses said they saw a vehicle crash into several cars before the driver got out and was chased on foot by police. “He crashed into three cars and tried to get into another car to escape (from the police) and then he ran over here and tried to jump into the water, but they (police caught him just in time),” a witness told 10 . News.

“It was like a movie,” said another person who watched the dramatic scene unfold. Others claimed to have seen blood on the man’s pants while he was being handcuffed. Later, forensic officers and homicide detectives were seen scouring nearby brush for the murder weapon. The man who was arrested is now helping police investigate him and has yet to be charged.
