Adam Tobias Wiki – Adam Tobias Biography

A father of six was shot to death in Texas over Memorial Day weekend at his only daughter’s high school graduation party. Adam Tobias, 35, was shot at a residence on Santa Cecilia Lane on Houston’s southeast side around 4:15 a.m. Friday, the Houston Police Department said. “My favorite person,” Destiny Tobias, the victim’s daughter, said through tears, her voice cracking, in comments reported by Houston-based ABC affiliate KTRK. “He was my favorite person.”

Just when the world was supposed to open up to her, the distraught young woman clutched a smiling photo of the man she lost in an interview on a television channel she never expected to give. The festivities began on Thursday afternoon, and people took to the streets as the night wore on. At some point, the owner’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Philip Arning, arrived at the party.

The home’s owner is the long-time ex-partner of Adam Tobias, reports KTRK. Adam Tobias’ wife and kids left earlier in the evening, but he wanted to stay and continue celebrating the powerful moment with his daughter, an accomplishment he reportedly didn’t get himself.

Who killed Adam Tobias?

Later in the evening, Arning and Adam Tobias got into an argument that eventually turned deadly, police said. The jolly father was shot dead on the front door steps. The victim’s niece started a GoFundMe because the family is now struggling financially and cannot afford funeral expenses.

“He leaves behind his loving wife and 6 beautiful children,” Griscelda Saucedo wrote at the fundraiser. “Adam Tobias was a husband, father, uncle, friend, son, brother and everything to us. My uncle Adam didn’t deserve his life to end this way, but here we are, doing everything we can to come together as a family and give my uncle the burial he deserves. My Uncle Adam was the life of the party, he always had a big smile on his face and he always made sure to tell you, “I love you.” He never took life for granted and did everything possible to support his wife and children.”

Adam Tobias was unarmed when he died, police say. “Patrol officers responded to a call of a shot at the residence at the above address and found the victim unconscious, with gunshot wounds,” HPD wrote in a news release. “Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.”

Arning stayed at the residence and was taken into custody Friday morning after the shooting. He is currently charged with one count of murder. Defendant was held in the Harris County Jail for several days. He is now being held on $50,000 bond, Harris County court records reviewed by Law & Crime show.

In footage from the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the plaintive voice of Destiny Tobias can be heard yelling, “She wasn’t supposed to be here.” She is referring to the man who supposedly killed her father. “He shouldn’t even have been in the house,” she told KTRK. “She wasn’t supposed to be at my house, and now she’s free and my dad is gone forever. And he walks as if nothing had happened.

Other piercing screams of loss, rage and despair from outside the home where the shooting occurred can be heard in footage compiled by San Antonio-based NBC affiliate WOAI. A photograph from graduation the morning before shows Adam Tobias ecstatic with pride as he embraces Destiny Tobias, her graduation cap pinned to her head; wide smiles on both faces.

“She had her father’s lifeless body in her arms,” the victim’s wife, Neftaly Perez, and Destiny Tobias’s stepmother of 16 years, told KTRK. “And I’m sure she’ll never get it out of her mind.”

“I won’t be able to see my best friend, my only friend,” the grieving widow continued. “I’m not going to listen to his voice. I will not receive kisses from him. Perez and her recently deceased husband had five children together. “He was always there for her children,” she said. “It does not matter that.”

According to the victim’s family, the discussion was about Adam Tobias wanting to stay with his daughter longer. “I want to enjoy every moment with you,” Destiny Tobias told KTRK, recalling her father’s words of encouragement, support and pride. “You deserve this party and I’m so proud of you.”

Adam Tobias apparently thought the argument over whether he was allowed to celebrate with his daughter was over. And then the shooting started, relatives said. The shooter allegedly got out from behind a door and fired the shot before Adam Tobias knew what was happening.

“He shot him in cold blood,” Perez told KTRK. “Because he didn’t even see it coming.” A benefit event for the beloved father’s family will reportedly be held on Saturday, June 3 at 10am. m. at 503 McCarty St. while supplies last. Arning was arraigned in the State’s 208th District Court on Tuesday.Read More……
