Ann Phelan Wiki – Ann Phelan Biography

A homeless woman Ann Phelan has been sent on trial before the Central Criminal Court charged with the murder of a man in a stabbing attack in a Dublin apartment last year. David Ennis (36) died after an incident at Claddagh Court in Ballyfermot on the night of November 8, 2022. The deceased was staying at the municipal housing complex for the elderly. Shortly after 2:30 a.m. m., the Civil Guard and emergency services personnel found Mr. Ennis apparently with a stab wound.

He was treated at the scene but pronounced dead a short time later. Gardai, which is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, had arrested a woman, but she was released without charge in November pending a file with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). However, in May, Ann Phelan (48), with no fixed address, at Benburb Street in Dublin 7, was charged with murdering Mr Ennis. She was remanded in custody and later granted High Court bail, which she has yet to take due to lack of an address.

Charges on Ann Phelan

Ms Phelan appeared again in Dublin District Court today when she was handed a copy of the prosecution’s evidence book. Judge Brendan O’Reilly granted an order to send her to trial and ordered copies of the interview videos to be released to the defense. He warned the defendant that she should inform the prosecutors if she intended to use an alibi in her defense. Following a request from defense attorney Katie Dowling, the judge granted legal aid to include lead counsel due to the seriousness of the case.

No date has yet been set for her appearance before the Central Criminal Court, but it will be in the next legal term, which begins in October. Ms. Phelan, who did not address the court, has yet to enter a guilty plea. At his first hearing on May 12, Ballyfermot Station Detective Sergeant Ronan McDermott said the defendant “did not respond” to the charge after the warning.Read More….
