The daughter of Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Shaq Barrett has died after drowning in a pool at her home. The team released a statement Sunday night after the tragic news of Arrayah’s death at the age of two. Police responded to a call of a child who had fallen into a swimming pool around 9:30 a.m. in the Beach Park area of Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Arrayah Barrett cause of death

Arrayah Barrett, who celebrated her second birthday on April 19, was taken to the hospital but attempts to save her life were unsuccessful, according to the Tampa Bay Times. An investigation is underway, but Arrayah’s death is not believed to be suspicious, police said. The couple met in high school, married in February 2012, and share Shaquil Jr., Braylon, and Aaliyah. Barrett suffered a season-ending injury tearing the Achilles tendon in his left leg during the Buccaneers’ Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He finished the 2022 season with 31 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in eight games.

Barrett, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has 348 tackles, 54.5 sacks, 19 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 115 career games (69 starts) with the Denver Broncos (2015-18) and Buccaneers.
