A man allegedly strangled his ex-girlfriend in a South Carolina hotel room during a senior trip to the Myrtle Beach area. The victim, Natalie Jane Martin, and the defendant, Blake William Linkous, were 18 years old. Suspicious circumstances were detected, prompting CID to take over the investigation,” the documents state. Linkous, a resident of Blue Rock, Ohio, is now in a jail in Horry County, South Carolina. Cops claim he killed Martin on June 6 “willfully” by strangling her to death. The arrest warrant cited evidence at the scene of the incident and witness statements.

Police were silent on what happened and what led up to it, including an alleged motive. “At this time, we have no further information to provide related to the case,” Horry County Public Information Director Mikayla Moskov told Law&Crime.
Martin’s friend Brooklyn Ferrell, who is running a GoFundMe campaign to pay for her funeral, told The Sun News that Martin and Linkous had been a couple for several years until they split earlier this year. However, the two remained friends. Both students attended Philo High School in Duncan Falls, Ohio, graduating May 26, and went to Myrtle Beach for the senior trip. Ferrell said he attended a separate senior trip to Florida.
