Ross’s girlfriend entered the store while Ross was standing outside the driver’s side door. Stanford can be seen walking towards Ross and the two appeared to “exchange words,” police wrote. Ross, who seemed “agitated” after the exchange, then entered the store.

The third person in Ross’s vehicle told investigators that he was watching Stanford because he “seemed suspicious” and saw him return to his car and start “rummaging around” for something. Ross’s girlfriend told police that when Ross entered the store, she said Stanford was “waving his gun” in the parking lot. That’s when the girlfriend got the text telling the teller to call the police. Ross then left the store and had another exchange with Stanford.
