A Florida man was shot and killed outside a Brevard County McDonald’s after attacking a man who was eating inside a truck, authorities said.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said the attack took place around 8:30 p.m. m. on Sunday December 10 when Brandon Turner, 36, approached a car in the parking lot of the Port St John fast food restaurant and began throwing punches at the driver.

Turner tried to get him out of the truck through an open window. Investigators say the driver, who was a licensed gun owner, drew his firearm and fired one shot at Turner.

“We have a call on the line. He notices that someone had been shot. That a man came up and started beating him in the front seat of his truck, so he shot him in the chest,” voices said on police radio, according to WESH 2.com. The attack was unprovoked, according to reports.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said the attack took place around 8:30 p.m. m. on Sunday December 10 when Brandon Turner, 36, approached a car in the parking lot of the Port St John fast food restaurant and began throwing punches at the driver.

Turner was immediately transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Deputies launched an investigation and are currently searching for the driver, whose identity has not been released. The sheriff’s office said it appeared Turner mistook the driver for someone else before physically assaulting him.

In a similar incident last September, a man was shot while sitting in a car at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Orlando. According to the state police department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. m. at the McDonald’s at John Young Parkway and Colonial Drive.

Orlando police said the victim was struck in the buttocks and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. It’s unclear if the shooter approached the man’s car or if the shot came from another vehicle.

In another incident, a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured after being shot by a rookie police officer in San Antonio. Erik Cantú was confronted by Officer James Brennand on the night of October 2 around 10:30 p.m. m. while Cantu enjoyed a cheeseburger inside his car, as seen in body camera footage released by the police department.

The victim was accompanied by an unidentified female passenger who was not injured in the incident, according to reports. The San Antonio Police Department fired Brennand on October 5.Read more
