An Oregon woman is facing multiple charges after pushing a child onto train tracks for no apparent reason. Brianna Lace Workman, 32, is being held without bail for allegedly pushing a 3-year-old girl onto the Gateway Transit Center’s MAX platform on the Northeast Portland railroad tracks as the mother and daughter waited for the train on Wednesday, December 28, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. department said in a statement.

Witnesses stated that no train was approaching when they pushed the child. Reports from a responding Port of Portland officer said the girl landed face first, sustained minor injuries to her forehead and complained of a headache.

The woman was taken into custody by police on Thursday, December 29, and is charged with attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, obstruction of public transportation, disorderly conduct in the second degree and recklessly endangering another person, according to KGW8 News.

Brianna Lace Workman Charges after pushing a child onto train tracks

According to CCTV footage obtained from TriMet, the girl was seen waiting near the tracks with her mother when Workman rose from the bench behind them and forcibly pushed the girl onto the tracks.

Despite having suffered minor head injuries, witnesses to the incident immediately took the girl to safety.

The girl’s mother informed authorities that neither she nor her daughter had interacted with Workman prior to the incident. A private security guard who was present at the event told authorities that he saw Workman push the boy onto the train tracks for no apparent reason.

A second witness claimed to have seen a “little girl flying onto the tracks” head-on and saw the boy’s head bounce off the metal of the track.

Workman has a history of assault allegations after being arrested in June 2021 for allegedly attacking a man with a knife after he invited her to her bedroom for breakfast.

I don’t know why I hit him,” Workman told police at the time, “I was trying to kill myself by stabbing him.”
