In an interview with investigators, the victim allegedly told police that the reason she created the Twitter account was because her parents regularly checked her cell phone.

Russell initially told police over the phone that she was not related to the victim, but she reportedly called back soon after to provide a revised statement. In her second statement, Russell confessed to performing certain sexual acts on the victim. However, she said the victim was the one who first mentioned a sexual relationship and she rejected it, but then forced her to perform the sexual acts, KOTV reported.

But the evidence and the victim’s testimony disproved Russell’s claims. The victim reportedly told police that it was Russell who approached him and made the victim touch her in a sexual way. On at least one occasion, the victim said Russell performed a sexual act on him while they were inside the church where Russell volunteered, Tulsa Fox affiliate KOKI-TV reported.

“She said that she was forced, but the messages that we discovered call that into question,” Lt. Darin Ehrenrich of the Tulsa Police Special Victims Unit told the station in March. “It’s hard to dispute what you’ve said when it’s written in front of you.”

The messages between the two also featured Russell explicitly talking to the victim about having sex with him in graphic terms. “I don’t know what the hell you did to me,” he allegedly wrote in one of the less graphic messages. “I don’t normally go for the younger ones.”

Authorities stressed that while most people think child predators are primarily adult males, such behavior is not gender-bound. “Obviously, there are a significant number of cases where the opposite is true,” Ehrenrich told KOTV. “This is one of those cases.
