According to Jacksonville police, a Marine has been arrested in connection with the death of his four-month-old son. The boy’s father, Christian Mark McGill, was arrested on December 22 after police responded to a medical call about breathing difficulties.

The baby’s death was investigated by the Jacksonville Police Department, which also made the arrest, according to WITN. Reports said investigators responded to a call from 123 Zack Circle, Apartment B, to take a medical call for trouble breathing.

Upon arrival, Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services, Onslow County, EMS, and the Jacksonville Police Department took action to save the life of an unresponsive four-month-old infant.

The Jacksonville Police Department later conducted an investigation into the case and detained the active Marine father in connection with the child’s death and later made the arrest, the WNCT report said.

He added that because of McGill’s status as an active duty Marine, investigators collaborated with both the District Attorney’s Office and Naval Criminal Investigative Services. Police, however, have refused to release information about where McGill was stationed.

McGill was being held at the Onslow County Jail without bail, the media said. The child was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The investigation into the death by the Jacksonville Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office and Naval Criminal Investigative Services continues. In a similar incident in November 2021, Jacksonville Marine Nicholas Shane Snear was arrested and charged with the death of his one-month-old son.

On November 15 of last year, police responded to a medical call at 107 Armstrong Drive on November 15 at 1:21 p.m. m. Upon arrival, first responders from Jacksonville Police, Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services, as well as Onslow County EMS took action to save the life of a one-month-old child.

The boy was transported to Onslow Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. The boy died on November 17 according to a report from FOX8.
