“This senseless violence is inexplicable,” said APD Acting Police Chief Art Acevedo. “Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated staff, the suspect has been apprehended and our community can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Our hearts go out to the family of the victims.” An online search of Arapahoe County court records turns up no criminal history for a Christopher Martinez of that age.

Christopher Martinez suspected for three murder

A 21-year-old Colorado man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two women and a man at a home in Aurora on Friday. Christopher Martinez was arrested Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m. m., 24 hours after family members first contacted police for a wellness check at the residence, the Aurora Police Department said.

Officers arrived on scene around 5:15 p.m. on Friday but saw nothing suspicious and nothing that would justify breaking into the house. The officers left after informing the family.

About an hour and a half later, family members arrived at the house and went inside. Inside they found the three unconscious victims, all apparently with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives investigated throughout the night before taking Martinez into custody early Saturday. Police said he was initially found at the location Friday night and that the victims, who were all members of the same family, knew him. Their identities have not been released pending positive confirmation and notification of family members.
