Charges on Christopher Speelman

Christopher Speelman, 59, was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison by Adams County Judge Thomas Campbell on Thursday. He pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree murder and robbery and pleaded no contest to a rape charge, Adams County District Attorney Brian Sinnett said in a news release.

The guilty plea and sentencing, which occurred quickly, ended a decades-long mystery and miscarriage. “Today’s guilty plea and sentencing finally brings a conclusion to this unique case. Were it not for the exhaustive efforts of investigators and others involved in the genealogy investigation in this case, the victim’s family may never have received any closure measures for this remarkably heinous and violent attack on their loved one.”

Sinnett said. “It’s obvious to see that years of effort went into finally unmasking this cowardly murderer of an 87-year-old woman who was able to hide behind her actions for so many years while another languished in prison for the crime Speelman ultimately committed. ” Speelman admitted to the gruesome murder in July 2021 after being connected to Laughman’s murder by DNA.Read More……..
