Police officers went to The Crane nightclub on Adderley Street in Digbeth just before 11:45 p.m. m. on Boxing Day, after it was reported that a man had been stabbed.
Detectives said the victim was “approached by a group of people” before being stabbed.
It is understood that the DJ stopped playing and a warning message appeared on the giant screens of the club.
Medical personnel struggled to save Cody, but he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
But today’s double arrest has raised hopes for justice.
A 22-year-old was arrested at an address in Birmingham city center just after midnight, while a second man, 21, was arrested in London.
The officers added that they were “really pleased” with the public’s response to their investigation into Cody’s death.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Ingram, from West Midlands Police, said: “We are making good progress in our investigation and building a better picture of what happened.
“We are very pleased with the response from the public and have already received a number of testimonials and images submitted, which will help with our investigation.
