In addition to overseeing the school’s finances, she oversaw the documentation used for any changes in staff pay. Poole would transfer funds, write checks in her name, and then cash the checks. Poole enjoyed a lavish lifestyle of expensive vacations in places like New York and Amsterdam. In February 2009, Poole submitted a ‘Pay Form Variance’ to Surrey County Council, in which she increased her own pay scale from E to F level. Two years later, she filed more paperwork to further increase her salary scale from SP9 to SP10.

She also claimed that between June 2016 and September 2018, she was working 30-hour weeks managing the breakfast club and after-school clubs. Her husband, Gary Poole, 67, was found not guilty on one count of acquisition, use and possession under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Detective Constable Lloyd Ives, who investigated the case, said: “This gross breach of trust and his elaborate deception over some nine years financed an extravagant lifestyle and allowed him luxury holidays and cars that he otherwise would not have been able to afford.” .
