Authorities allege a bouncer named Duane Patterson died on Christmas Eve after an angry man beat him into a coma outside a New York bar in Chelsea.

Patterson, 61, and another man began an argument at 3 a.m. Dec. 24 when Patterson was working at Billymark’s West bar on Ninth Avenue near West 29th Street, police said. The suspect struck Patterson in the face outside where the fight had escalated, causing him to fall and hit his head. When he didn’t respond, a bartender called 911.
