A Utah man shot his teenage girlfriend in the leg in a fit of rage after she went to a party without him, police said. Fahd Mahdi, 18, was charged Tuesday with discharging a firearm causing serious injury, a first-degree felony. He is accused of shooting his 17-year-old girlfriend in the leg on Aug. 6 after learning she ignored his feelings by making plans that didn’t include him.
Mahdi allegedly told the teen that “if he left without him there would be trouble,” according to charging documents obtained by KSL.com. He reportedly followed her to the party and demanded that she come home. “He threatened to hurt her and told her that he wasn’t afraid to hit her in front of everyone,” the records state.

Later that night, Mahdi allegedly knelt down next to her girlfriend as she sat in the backseat of her friend’s car and shot her in the leg. “[She] said that Mahdi showed a gun and asked if she had taken pictures with the gun. [She] reported that her ears began to ring and she realized that Mahdi had shot her in the leg,” the charges allege.
A friend took the bride to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery for a fractured femur. He immediately identified Mahdi as her assailant when Salt Lake police were called to the suspicious scene around 2:30 a.m. He was arrested on suspicion of felony firearm but was not arrested for a week. The teen told officers there was a history of abuse between her and her boyfriend. “The victim described her relationship as violent and abusive,” court records said.Read More…….
