Deputies announced that the defendant in a violent kidnapping case “for the thrill” is now charged with attempted murder. The new arrest warrant for Hunter Chase Nance 24, was issued Monday, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. The victim said she met Nance on February 15, authorities previously said. She said Nance approached her at a gas station and they exchanged phone numbers, authorities said in a WHNS report. Nance allegedly later offered to drive her to her house.
“At some point she arranged over the phone for the man to pick her up and the two arrived at her residence,” the agents wrote in a Facebook post. Arriving at the home in the town of China Grove, she locked the door and attacked it with a knife, authorities said. But the woman ran away.

“She was able to fight him off and she ran from the scene with minor injuries,” deputies wrote. People called authorities after seeing her walking around injured. “While he was being interviewed by detectives, he admitted that he had planned to kill the woman for the thrill of it,” authorities wrote.

He allegedly expressed an interest in cannibalism and killing people, according to the WHNS report. Nance said he picked the woman at random, authorities said. Authorities originally arrested him for first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment. Nance is currently being held on $1.2 million total bail.
“I mean, obviously, it could have ended worse,” his next-door neighbor, Paula Fullbright, told the outlet. “Thank God, the girl was strong enough to fight him off and escape. Honestly, I’ve had thoughts in my mind, ‘What if she tried to break into my house and take one of my daughters?’ It’s terrible that I even have that thought, I wish I hadn’t, but that’s the reality of it right now.”Read More…..
