NORTH CAROLINA: A North Carolina man drove more than 500 miles for nearly eight hours to confess to his mother that he allegedly murdered his wife. Jeffrey Myers Lacortiglia was arrested Sunday morning April 30 in Ohio.

The 43-year-old man allegedly shot his wife to death and entered the Hamilton Township Police Department to inform officers of the crime he committed at his Spring Lake, North Carolina residence. He allegedly told Buckeye State Police that they would find his body inside his master bedroom, Law and Crime reported.

Jeffrey Myers Lacortiglia accused of killing wife

On April 30, the Ohio Hamilton Township Police Department contacted the North Carolina Harnett County Sheriff’s Office to verify Lacortiglia’s account of the incident. the door twice. Lacortiglia then gave the Ohio police his garage access code and officers began their search after they entered the garage. Officers found out the murder story was true after Blanca Lacortiglia was discovered dead in a bed inside her home on Swain Street. A gun was found in the bed next to the body of the 37-year-old woman along with a firearms magazine.

Agents found a chilling note on a counter in Lacortiglia’s home, reading: “I’m sorry. I love you.” After the fatal incident, the alleged murderer drove through several states to reach Ohio, where his mother lived. He then told his mother that he did not know what to do after the murder and she encouraged the defendant to turn himself in to the police.

The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Lacortiglia after Blanca’s body was discovered. In a press release, Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats stated, “Lacortiglia is in the custody of Hamilton Township Police,” adding, “No further information will be released at this time.” The couple’s 8-year-old son is currently in Ohio with the father of the alleged killer.
