“[T]he aircrews arrived on scene to find the ship reeling in the waves!” wrote the US Coast Guard on Twitter. “The surf made the boat rescue dangerous, so the crew decided to lower the rescue swimmer and have the owner enter the water to be rescued. As he entered the water, the boat capsized, but the rescue swimmer was able to safely retrieve the individual. They took him back to Coast Guard Base Astoria, where EMS was waiting to evaluate and treat the man.” Labonte was that man.
