Charges on Joseph “Kade” Abbott

The other two counts are from Sevier County, where Knox News has learned Abbott participated with the school in the Christian Apostolic Schools National Competition at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg. Abbott was a high school teacher at the school and a worship leader at church. He was listed as a staff member in August.

The Sevier County charges stem from time teachers and students spent in the competition, which brings Apostolic students from across the country together to compete in sports like track, basketball, volleyball and softball throwing. He also has craft, music, and Bible verse memorization contests. The 2022 competition date, May 23-26, coincides with the dates of Abbott’s indictment in Sevier County.

The girl competed in various vocal contests, according to the source.
On Abbott’s arrest Abbott was arrested in January in North Carolina and taken to Blount County, where he was released on $200,000 bond. Abbott then turned himself in to Sevier County authorities on March 17, posting $75,000 bail.
