A former GCHQ worker who stabbed a US National Security Agency (NSA) employee outside a leisure center as he left netball practice. Joshua Bowles 29, conducted a “reconnaissance” of his female victim, including investigating her schedule before stabbing her on the night of March 9.

He appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Tim Forte, defending, said this would be challenged and reports had been provided showing Bowles had depression and an autism spectrum disorder.
